Captain Hook’s Dive Key West offers some of the best dive certification in Key West. Our full time staff of experienced, professional SCUBA Instructors are sanctioned to teach all levels of SCUBA instruction. We are an international training facility and teach SSI, PADI, and NAUI programs. We accept all open water referrals. Your choice of a SCUBA school is an important decision. RESORT COURSE
This one day program will have you scuba diving the coral reefs under the close supervision of your instructor after one class and pool session. This is a non-certification, experience only course.
SCUBA CERTIFICATION
Receive an internationally recognized certification in as little as 3 to 5 days. This course is designed to make you comfortable and confident in your skills as a certified diver. E-learning available on some courses.
Scuba REFRESHER PROGRAM
This program allows an inactive certified diver to update their skills and knowledge without having to retake a complete certification course. A morning class and pool review is followed by two afternoon coral reef dives.
OPEN WATER CHECKOUT/ REFERRAL
This service is available for customers who have completed their classroom and pool training at home and wish to do their certification dives in a warm tropical location.
ADVANCED OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION
Complete this course in advanced diving skills in 2 to 3 days. Hone your skills on deep, wreck, night and navigation dives with one of our experienced instructors.

Blue Star Operater
Captain Hook’s Dive Key West was the first dive facility in the Lower Keys to quality as a Blue Star Operator. This designation is awarded to operators who are dedicated to coral reef education and preservation. Bob Holston and Cece Roycraft the owners of Dive Key West have been involved in many initiatives for the preservation of the Florida Keys coral reefs for the past 44 years. They had the honor of being the citizens to go before Congress requesting the Keys be designated a National Marine Sanctuary. As Captain Hook’s Dive Key West, we hope to carry on that tradition as new the owners.

How long does the Open Water course take?
You can earn a full Open Water certification in as little as 3–5 days, thanks to flexible e‑learning and efficient pool sessions.
Do I need any prior scuba experience?
No. Our Resort Course lets complete beginners try scuba in one day, and the full certification starts from scratch—just basic swimming skills required
I finished classroom work at home. Can I certify with you?
Yes. Book our Open Water Checkout/Referral option to complete your four certification dives in warm, clear Key West water.
It’s been a few years since my last dive. What do you recommend?
Our Refresher Program packs a morning skills tune‑up and two afternoon reef dives so you regain confidence without retaking a full course
Can I move beyond Open Water while I’m here?
Yes. We run Advanced Open Water courses in just 2–3 days, plus Rescue, Divemaster and specialty certifications tailored to your schedule.

Cancelation Policy. We understand your travel plans may change. With that in mind, Capt. Hook’s has a very simple cancellation policy: As long as you cancel outside of 24 hours there is NO charge. However, if you cancel within 24 hours or NO-SHOW the day of your class/course or trip we will be charging the full amount of the dives or 50% of the course/class. Thank you!
